When we adopted Isabel our social worker taught us how important it was for the birth mother's well-being to communicate frequently with her. We sent weekly letters and pictures. The first several months after placement are so difficult for birth mothers, and we learned how frequent updates can help them feel at peace, knowing they made the decision that was best for their child.
